December 2020 Source Now Available

so20-12cvrIt is hard to believe that it is December and 2020 is fast ending. The new year will bring the 2021 AACE election for a President-Elect and a Vice President Administration. In addition, Regions 3,5,6,8 and 10 will be electing a Director-Region to the AACE International Membership Board. In this issue of Source, you can read bios, goals and objectives and see a photo of each of the candidates that the Nominating Committee has placed on the ballot. Electronic voting will open Feb. 1 and run through 4 p.m. EST on March 15, 2021.

AACE International President Christopher P. Caddell, PE CCP DRMP, is encouraging all AACE members to renew and pay their membership dues as the 2020 dues expire on Dec. 31, 2020 and to continue to receive membership benefits, dues need to be paid in advance of the expiration.

The second part of the Certification department’s two-part article on “The Future of Psychometrics,” as authored by F. Sam Griggs, CCP FAACE, presents important information that all AACE certification holders or those considering taking the exam for one of the various AACE certifications will benefit by reading and understanding this aspect of the AACE program.

The bonus technical article for December is “Use of Earned Value Management as a communication tool with the project team and the client.” This timely article is authored by Edward M. McNamee and Charles W. Immonen.

We end the 2020 TED Talk series “Outside the Box” with a  video titled, “Lessons on Leaving the World Better Than You Found it,” and presented by Sophie Howe of the Future Generations Commission of Wales.

Do not miss this month’s profile spotlights honoring Karen Chew as the Women in Project Controls honoree and Gregory Whiteside, PE CCP as the Rising Professional honoree.

We are saddened to report that William Edward “Bill” Kraus, PE CCP, who served as AACE International President in 2007-2008, died October 19, 2020, following a battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
