Role of Rising Professionals Committee
Th AACE International and the construction industry recently started to welcome members of Generation Z (born after 1997) to their organizations. Generation Z and younger Millennials have unique traits and core values that are different from previous generations. The challenge of keeping these generations interested in AACE led to the creation of the Rising Professionals Committee (RPC). RPC provides insight and recommendations to create a foundation for AACE’s value to younger individuals who are rising in their careers in total cost management. RPC aims to provide an engaged community of up-and-coming project controls professionals to develop and influence the project controls industry through practice, awareness, and innovation. This presentation will talk about the needs of these younger professionals and how our companies / professional bodies can help meet those needs. We will talk about some of the RPC initiatives such as technical paper mentoring, university outreach, modernization initiatives, unique content strategy, and volunteering.

Avi Sharma is a
result-oriented project scheduler and controls professional with over 8 years
of experience in commercial and heavy civil construction. He is currently a
Project Scheduler with GH Phipps Construction Companies in Denver, Colorado. He
is also the Chair of the AACE International’s Rising Professional Committee. He
holds a Master's in Construction Management from Colorado State University
(USA) and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from Nagpur University (India).
Recently, he has been involved with research work related to productivity
improvement in construction which has stagnated for the past few decades and
adding industrialized construction to improve productivity.
